THE MEN The pianist for the group, Bob Johnson, who lives in Houston, Texas, joined the Gold Rush Quartet in 2006 as their soundman and then became the pianist in early 2007. He has been associated with and playing Gospel music since he was 14 years old. Charles Prause, native Houstonian, sings the lead in the Quartet. He joined the group in 1980 as bass guitarist and moved to singing the baritone part in 1981. In 1984, Charles began singing the lead and continues to fill that position. In addition to the Quartet, Charles has been and continues to be a Music Minister in local churches. Charles even leads music at his church, Garden Oaks Baptist in Houston, Texas. The bass singer, Dale Weiman, who lives in Coldspring, Texas, started singing with the group in 1977 and just gets better and better as the years go by. It has been said that he is the best Gospel bass singer in this part of Texas. David Rose sings the baritone part for the Gold Rush Quartet. David has sung with other Gospel groups, most recently, “Faithful”, prior to joining the Gold Rush Quartet in May, 2003. Earlier in his life, David was in the pastoral ministry. He and his wife reside in Tomball, Texas. Jeff Embrey, the newest singer, sings the high tenor part. Jeff joined the group in August, 1999 as drummer. When our former pianist/tenor singer of 27 years had to leave the group in early 2007, Jeff stepped in and began singing the tenor part. He lives in Pasadena, Texas where he actively participates in his church and is the band director at one of the local public schools. The newest musician, Tyler McCord, joined Gold Rush in 2008. he is a young man who attends college but finds time to play the drums for Gold Rush. The group is indeed very blessed to have such a talented young man as Tyler, who has committed to this Southern Gospel Ministry. Being a Christian is a basic requirement for being a member of the Gold Rush Gospel Quartet. All the men in the group attend church in their own area. |
